About

Bas F. Jansen (Netherlands, 1990) is a self-taught writer and director.

He began his career in 2012 directing music videos. With this work he developed his sense of rhythm and narrative. In 2019, he made the transition to fiction with the short film Zwembadhaar. He focuses on short fiction films that explore the tension between the individual and society. In his work he aims to tell stories that explore social themes from a personal perspective.

In recent years he began working as an educator at a local filmschool. With his latest project, Fortuna, he builds on this theme and explores the themes of freedom and radicalisation in times of global unrest. Showing how external factors such as a unsteady homelife and isolation can contribute to radical ideas.
